MLS Laser Therapy

MLS Laser Therapy stands for multi-wave locked system laser therapy. It is a non-invasive treatment approach and the newest and most advanced type of laser light therapy. This is not laser surgery. MLS Laser Therapy is meant to exceed the limits of low power and does not heat tissues as in most high-power laser therapy. This type of laser is FDA cleared for pain, edema, and inflammation.

How Does MLS Laser Therapy Work?

MLS Laser Therapy uses a device that emits specific light energy waves on the affected sites. These sites will absorb the light energy and will trigger beneficial reactions. These reactions include:

  • Increased blood flow to the affected area. Your body will react to the need for more nutrients and growth factors. MLS Laser Therapy triggers this reaction by stimulating cells.
  • The treatment will partially block your nerves from transmitting pain signals. This reduces pain and increases comfort levels.
  • An increase in blood flow means an increase in waste removal. As your blood brings in nutrients it also takes out waste. The removal of waste helps reduce inflammation and swelling.
  • Stimulates lymph drainage which increases waste removal and decreases fluid and edema.

MLS Laser Therapy is an attractive treatment option because it is natural and non-invasive. Rather than masking the pain with prescription medication or resorting to invasive surgery, we will use MLS Laser Therapy to enhance your body’s ability to heal, decrease pain, inflammation, and edema.

What Does MLS Laser Therapy Help to Treat?

MLS laser therapy is effective in addressing several conditions, including:

  • Arthritis
  • Knee pain
  • Heel pain
  • Hip pain
  • Neck pain
  • Muscle tears
  • Back pain
  • Neuroma
  • Achilles tendinitis
  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Radiating nerve pain

Dr. Diane Taber will evaluate your condition to determine whether or not you will benefit from MLS Laser Therapy.

How Long Does MLS Laser Therapy Treatment Take?

Many patients experience an immediate improvement in their condition following their first laser therapy session. However, MLS Laser Therapy is not a one-time treatment. Full treatment typically takes 6 visits for acute conditions, and 12 visits for chronic conditions. A typical treatment plan is 1-3 times per week. We will work with you to create a schedule that is convenient for you and will allow you to experience maximum benefits. Some patients will continue laser sessions, every so often, for severe chronic conditions.

The exact duration of your treatment  will depend on the severity of your condition or injury. On average, a single session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. There is no preparation or recovery period, and you can leave our office immediately following treatment.
