What Can I Do to Reduce Pain? Diet Tips

Dr. Diane Taber is the wife and co-owner with Dr. Theodore Taber of Taber Chiropractic and Laser Spine Therapy Center in Bowie, MD. She has some helpful diet tips to feel your best during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chiropractors do not prescribe medication, so we routinely council patients on dietary and lifestyle recommendations to support our treatments.  Dr. Diane Taber relates that there is a lot of research on the anti-inflammatory diet, and it can make a huge impact on one’s health. For instance, did you know that potato chips are very inflammatory? The sunflower oil throws off the balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 which causes our bodies to produce more inflammation than we would otherwise. To lessen pain, it's imperative to optimize your diet.  Sugar is also a culprit.

I find that people either like sweet or savory.  If you give into your cravings, you may find yourself in a world of hurt.  During this pandemic many are turning to comfort foods and eating junk where they might not otherwise. That alone can cause a spike in inflammation which thereby causes increased pain. Likewise, there are items which reduce inflammation.  Roots such as turmeric and ginger are anti-inflammatory.  I like to put some fresh ginger root slices in a cup of hot water for tea states Dr. Diane Taber, Chiropractor Bowie.  I also try to make recipes that include ginger and tumeric.  Stay tuned to my blog where I will share my spinach recipe.

Dr. Diane Taber and Dr. Ted Taber have been practicing chiropractic in Bowie since 2000.  Teaching patients life style fundamentals is part of what they do along with chiropractic, exercises, and physiotherapy.  They also offer MLS Laser and Spinal Decompression.
